MEMBERS ONLY: Sculpting body parts: face edition (15th May 6-8:30pm)

A$50.00

This hands-on workshop invites participants to explore the art of sculpting individual facial features. Working with clay, you’ll learn how to observe and recreate key elements such as eyes, noses, and mouths/lips, developing both technical skills and a deeper understanding of facial anatomy.

Through guided demonstrations and individual practice, Courtney will break down each feature into approachable steps—examining proportion, structure, and surface detail. Emphasis will be placed on slow looking, tactile awareness, and refining form through iteration. Courtney will also provide quality slip as well as giving lots of little tricks to create strong joints.

Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, this workshop encourages experimentation and personal interpretation. By the end, you’ll have a series of sculpted studies and a stronger foundation for building expressive, lifelike faces in your own work.

Bring along a leather hard wheel thrown or hand built vessel like a cylinder, anything from 15cm, use white clay if possible (PB 103/Stoneware 10). If you don’t have a vessel on the night you can practice sculpting on a slab of clay.

This workshop takes place on Friday, 15. May from 6-8:30pm
